Jonathan Levison, MD
Jonathan Levison, MD is a board certified vascular surgeon who has been at The Vein Center since 1999. His area of expertise is open aortic surgery but he is experienced and knowledgeable of the wide variety of techniques used in endovascular surgery. Dr. Levison obtained a Doctorate in Medicine from the Chicago Medical School which is located in Chicago, Illinois and then participated in a fellowship in Vascular Surgery in New Hyde Park, New York at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center.

Dr. Levison is actively involved with The Cardiovascular Care Group. He has participated in several industry sponsored studies which the Group has taken part in and served as both a principal investigator as well as a sub-investigator in many studies. He has also served as the Medical Director of the Wound Center and the Chief of the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at Clara Mass Medical Center in Belleville, New Jersey. Currently, Dr. Levison is the Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery for the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and he is the Past President of the Vascular Society of New Jersey. He also serves in the capacity of a representative to the CMS Medicare Center Advisory Committee for the Vascular Society of New Jersey.

Since 1999 Dr. Levison has been practicing at New Jersey’s Vein Center where he works with a team of vein specialists who work with patients to eliminate various kinds of unsightly veins. Dr. Levison is diligent about staying up on the latest techniques which are effective at treating various vein conditions. Each patient will have a treatment plan that is customized and tailored to meet their specific needs. Dr. Levison is a board certified vascular surgeon who is qualified to treat the many different types of vein conditions that are seen at The Vein Center. He practices both minimally invasive techniques as well as surgical techniques.
Treatment Options
Unsightly veins are commonly found on the lower extremities of the body, however, they may also appear on hands, breasts or abdomens usually as a result of pregnancy. Dr. Levison has the high level of expertise required to deal with any type of vascular conditions including spider veins, reticular veins or varicose veins. Sclerotherapy is a commonly used treatment option for eliminating reticular veins and spider veins. Vein stripping is a surgical procedure which can be used in treating larger varicose veins. Laser ablation is an endovenous procedure which is minimally invasive. It is commonly used to remove spider veins, reticular veins and varicose veins. Laser ablation is commonly performed in a surgeon’s office on an outpatient basis. Microphlebectomy is a procedure through which varicose veins are removed through small incisions. Dr. Levison is adept at using effective procedures to eliminate various types of unsightly veins. He enjoys seeing people find more enjoyment in simple activities once the vein condition is resolved. He particularly enjoyed the story of a woman who used to take only winter vacations due to her vein condition. Following treatments, she was able to enjoy summer vacations on the beach as well.
