After finishing this program, Dr. Reiter continued with his residency training at the University of Miami at Jackson Memorial Hospital. His residential training was in Orthopedic Surgery and after finishing the residency program Dr. Reiter went straight into a one year fellowship training that focused on spinal surgery. This residency and fellowship combination created many opportunities for Dr. Reiter to gain valuable experience with a number of spine conditions. This training took place at Emory University of Atlanta. He has been elected to the US National Medical Honor Society – Alpha Omega Alpha. In addition to practicing as a spinal care specialist, Dr. Reiter has done much writing on the field of spine surgery including a chapter of a book on the subject, as well as a variety of articles for professional journals. Much of the research that Dr. Reiter has done has been focused on developing techniques that reduce the formation of scar tissue that often occurs as a result of spinal operations. He has also done much work on the biomechanics of spinal fixation and the biologic adjuncts that can improve procedures for back surgeries such as spinal fusions.
Personal Care
One of the major focuses of Dr. Reiter’s practice, as well as the entire staff at the New Jersey Spine Specialists is personalized care. Dr. Reiter recognizes that by taking the time to address each patient individually he can care for him or her much more thoroughly. Each member of the New Jersey Spine Specialists takes the time to do a thorough evaluation of each patient in order to find exactly the cause of the problem and find the best solution. Dr. Reiter also feels that it is very important to educate each patient on his or her condition. When a patient understands his or her condition, he or she is then able to actively participate in the decision making process.
